Get Specialised Bowen Therapy at Our Central Coast Clinic

Myopractic treatment has its' foundation in the teachings of Tom Bowen. It is based on a very simple principle:  "Muscles move bones".  If a bone is out of alignment, it is usually because there is a tight muscle pulling it out of place and this can usually be corrected by releasing the tension in the tight muscle.  When the muscle releases, the bone will go back into its correct place.

Any Central Coast resident can benefit from Bowen Therapy

Myopractic treatment is gentle and non-invasive, while still having the potential to correct a wide variety of issues. Because problem bones and muscles will not naturally reposition themselves, these underlying issues can persist for a long time until a specialised therapist identifies them. Even issues that you have been experiencing for years may be successfully treated at our Bowen Therapy sessions.

Issues that can be treated by myopractic therapy:

  • back pain
  • headaches and migraines
  • neck or shoulder pain
  • sports injuries
  • sciatica
  • joint issues
  • pulled muscles
  • poor posture
  • frozen shoulder
  • difficulty with certain actions or positions like walking, running, sitting etc.
  • digestive disorders
  • tennis elbow / golfers elbow
  • bunions and hammer toes
  • lumbago
  • RSI
  • respiratory problems
  • and many others...

How does a Myopractic treatment work?

Firstly, we will assess your body to work out what imbalances exist and what muscles need treatment. Most treatments can be carried out while you are fully dressed.  Depending on what areas of your body are affected, you may need to partially undress so that the treatment can be done effectively.  If you wear tight fitting clothing (even as a layer under your main clothing) this will minimise the need for undressing.

Treatment is done in small amounts -  a couple of minutes "rest" time is given between some techniques.  This is to maximise your bodies ability to make the necessary changes.  Too much treatment all at once is as unhelpful as not enough.

The focus of Myopractic is to treat causes, not symptoms. For instance: back pain is often caused by muscles on the front of the body. Pain is rarely felt in the muscle causing the problem. Our bodies are designed to compensate for imbalances and the painful area is usually the area compensating for the cause, rather than the cause itself.
