• Laser Acupuncture Therapy combines the ancient Chinese principles of Acupuncture with modern laser technology, giving you an advanced form of health care. Traditional Chinese medical manuals identified the importance of blood flow to bodily health, connecting it with the equally-important flow of qi, or spiritual energy. They highlighted the body’s key acupuncture points where the flow of qi or blood could be disrupted.

While traditional acupuncture therapy treats the body by inserting sterilised needles into these focal points, releasing any pent up energy, this can be painful and intimidating to patients. We instead use three different types of lasers to stimulate these points, and will select the appropriate laser for your issues.  Most people feel nothing when the laser is used, however for some the sensation can be warm, tingling or pulsating.  Laser stimulates the release of endorphins (your bodies natural feel-good chemicals) and you may feel pleasantly drowsy after a treatment.  The procedure is non-invasive and non-thermal. Laser acupuncture treatments are a painless, drugless and highly effective form of therapy which often has rapid and highly successful results, and Total Health Clinic Central Coast are the leading local providers of this technique.

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy similar to and often used in combination with traditional needle acupuncture. In it moxa, derived from the herb mugwort, is burnt near to (not on) the skin at acupuncture points. We use moxa to warm regions and acupuncture points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and qi. The moxa comes in a small cardboard tube which sticks to the skin.  The moxa burns for about 4 mins, but is suspended about 5mm from the skin to prevent excess heat.

Moxibustion therapy can be very effective for many diseases and conditions including back pain, muscle stiffness, headaches, migraines, tendonitis, arthritis, digestive disorders, anxiety, and uterine health problems such as menstrual cramps, irregular periods, and infertility. Moxibustion can be used safely and effectively for almost all patients, being traditionally used in place of invasive needle therapy for pregnancy acupuncture.
